Dr. Arturo Orjalo, Jr. joined Genentech in 2015 and now heads the Cell Line Development group in ADQC-Biological Technologies. He is responsible for generating custom stable cell lines and subsequently using them in the initial development of cell-based potency assays, the central tool used to confirm drug product biological activity during release testing. These cell-based assays include, but are not limited to reporter gene assays and cell signaling assays. Before joining Genentech, Arturo worked at Biosearch Technologies in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area where he was the lead Scientist in the development and launching of Stellaris® RNA FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization). Prior to this, Arturo was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.
