Francis Poulin is Senior Director of Analytical Development at Lyell Immunopharma in Seattle, where he is responsible for the development of analytical methods in support of process development, characterization, and release of clinical lentiviral vectors and cell therapy products. Prior to Lyell, he was Director of Analytical Development at Sanofi where he was responsible for the development of methods to analyze recombinant enzymes, mAbs, cell and gene therapy products. Francis started his career at Genzyme in the Cell Line Development group, where he worked on implementing flow cytometry-based sorting methods to select CHO cells expressing high levels of recombinant proteins. Francis did his postdoctoral work at the HHMI & University of California, Berkeley, and at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, where he studied the regulation of translation initiation.
