Samarendra Mohanty

Samarendra Mohanty (Co-Founder & President of Nanoscope Therapeutics) is an inventor & serial entrepreneur with decades of experience in translational research and Biomedical technology development. He is a co-founder of several biotech and biomedical device companies at various stages of R&D and commercialization. He serves on the boards of different biotech companies. He has vast experience in innovating and translating discoveries from lab to clinic, successfully navigating through complex manufacturing and regulatory landscape. He has authored over 200 international patents and publications in leading journals including Nature. Samar has made pioneering contributions to the field of optogenetics by developing broadband opsins with direct translatability of the optogenetics from a research tool to a vision-restoring therapeutic platform and advancing a non-viral laser gene delivery platform. He has led the development of Multi-Characteristic Opsin and its advancement through late-phase clinical trials for patients suffering from different inherited retinal dystrophies.
