John did his undergrad and graduate research in Bioanalytical Chemistry at Dalhousie University in Canada where he focused on building separation devices for mass spec. Afterwards, he did research at U of Illinois and Northwestern University on expanding Top Down Proteomics identification coverage. After a brief stint of consulting work in Canada, he joined Genentech in 2013 supporting both small and large molecule projects using mass spectrometry. His team now focuses mainly on large molecule therapeutics where they provide both screening and implementing bioanalytical assays covering the diverse portfolio.
