University of California, Riverside

Ryan Julian is a professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Riverside, where he has led a research group centered around mass spectrometry since 2005. Dr. Julian obtained his PhD at Caltech under the guidance of Jack Beauchamp, focusing on a variety of molecular recognition and ion chemistry projects. He followed up with training in instrumentation and ion mobility with a joint postdoc with David Clemmer and Martin Jarrold at Indiana University. After establishing his own lab, much of the emphasis has been on the development of structural tools, but over the last five years a particular interest in the study of long-lived proteins and how they relate to lysosomal failure in age-related diseases has evolved.
