Michael Strader

Dr. Strader received his Master of Science in 1998 and Doctor of Philosophy in 2003 from the University of Tennessee with an emphasis on enzymology and protein structure-function. Afterward, he received extensive post-doctoral training in biological mass spectrometry at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In 2011, he joined the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where he has served as a research scientist and regulatory reviewer in the Office of Blood Research and Review (OBRR) and the office of Vaccine Research and Review (OVRR). Dr. Strader has published 38 peer-reviewed articles and was a recipient of the 2017 FDA Excellence in Laboratory Science Award for developing a quantitative mass spectrometry method for studying hemoglobin variants exposed to oxidative stress. Dr. Strader currently applies quantitative proteomic strategies to improve allergen extract quality used to treat allergy patients.
