Anita Liu

Anita Liu is an Associate Principal Scientist in the Biologics Mass Spectrometry (MS) group at Merck & Co. focusing on MS-based method development and technological innovation for improved biotherapeutic drug characterization. Anita received her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, and her master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. Anita started her MS career at ExSAR, where she worked on higher order structure analysis for antibody drugs by hydrogen-deuterium exchange MS (HDX-MS). Anita also worked at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, where she led the development of an anion-exchange chromatography-mass spectrometry (AEX-MS) method for improved charge variant analysis in monoclonal antibodies and a hydrophilic-interaction chromatography-mass spectrometry (HILIC-MS) approach for assessing quality attributes in adeno-associated virus capsids. Anita has more than 14 years of industry experience in MS-based protein characterization and separation science skills, with ten publications in peer-reviewed journals.
