William Weiss

Will received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Univ. of Delaware under the direction of Profs. Christopher Roberts and Abraham Lenhoff. He joined Eli Lilly and Company in 2009 as a Research Scientist in the biophysical characterization group in Bioproduct Research and Development (BRD). Will went to lead the group where he focused on expanding and enhancing its capabilities by adding diverse talent and new technologies to meet the needs of an evolving portfolio. He co-founded the Biophysics Working Group with John Gabrielson Ph.D. in 2016, which published a series of articles highlighting the use of higher order structure data in technical decision-making. Will joined the BRD management team in 2019, leading a group responsible for mammalian and microbial upstream process development and characterization. He is currently a director in the Biotechnology Discovery Research organization where he leads an interdisciplinary team enabling the flow of assets into development.
