Jey has over 19 years of industrial experience in potency assay development for biotherapeutics and is currently a Director in Cell Based Sciences, AR&D at Merck. She is an industry leader and expert in developing reporter-based potency assays and is a pioneer developing and adopting Ready-to-Use (RTU) cells for potency bioassays. Prior to joining Merck, Jey held positions as an Associate Director in the Bioassay Center of Excellence at BMS and as a Bioassay group leader at Promega, where she led the development of over a hundred cell-based bioassays for major biologics modalities (mAb, bispecific, ADC, CGT) and vaccines that are widely adopted by the industry. Jey obtained her Ph.D. in cell biology from the Institute of Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, under a joint program with the Max Planck Society in Germany and completed a postdoctoral training with Kendall-Mayo Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She is a senior author of more than 30 peer reviewed publications, reviews, and book chapters, and serves as a scientific reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Immunological Methods and Antibody Therapeutics.
