Yukina Umemoto

Ms. Yukina Umemoto is the leader of the Bioassay function within the Analytical Department at Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. She is responsible for driving bioassay strategy development and advancing assay technologies throughout all stages of antibody drug development, from early discovery to late-phase and commercial development. She began her professional career in the Quality Control organization at Chugai, where she developed extensive expertise in quality control–oriented assay development, method optimization, and analytical method transfer. Her scientific expertise encompasses a broad range of bioassay platforms, with a primary focus on cell based assays, ELISA, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assays. Informed by her experience as a Scientist in the Section of Bioassay in Analytical Department at Hoffmann La Roche, she also contributes to the development of assay strategies for extended functional characterization of antibody therapeutics, supporting the advancement of complex molecular modalities. At CASSS Bioassay 2026, Ms. Umemoto will present two case studies addressing strategic approaches to critical reagent management in both development and commercial contexts.
