Yongwook Choi

Yongwook Choi joined the FDA in 2022 and is a Bioinformatics reviewer in the Office of Cellular Therapy and Human Tissue (OCTHT) within the Office of Therapeutic Products (OTP) at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER). In his role, he reviews the next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics analysis information in cell and gene therapy product submissions. Before joining the FDA, he conducted extensive research in bioinformatics, initially at the J. Craig Venter Institute and later at the Translational Genomics Research Institute after he earned his PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University in 2010. He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Seoul National University in South Korea.
