Parastoo Azadi

Dr. Azadi is currently the Associate Director of Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, University of Georgia. She is the principal investigator on two federally-funded resource centers: (1) the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded “National Resource Center in Glycoscience”, and (2) the Department of Energy-funded “Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates”. Also she is the co-investigator and director of User Facility at UGA for GlycoMIP, an National Science Foundation-funded Material Innovation Platform. Overall, the mission of her lab is to train scientists in the field of glycobiology, to make tools in structural elucidation of glycans accessible to the glycoscience community and to address the obstacles in the field faced by her lab and her collaborators. She received her B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1987 from University of North London, UK and her Ph.D. degree in biochemistry in 1991 from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, studying structural characterization of carbohydrates and glycoproteins by mass spectrometry under the supervision of Drs. Anne Dell and Howard Morris, followed by a postdoctoral training with Drs. Alan Darvill and Peter Albersheim at university of Georgia.
