Nick is currently a Principal Scientist in Amgen’s Drug Product Technologies department. His analytical, formulation and process development experience has spanned the development spectrum from the pre-clinical space all the way to commercial life cycle management for multiple modalities in the metabolic, inflammation and oncology therapeutic areas. Nick currently works in the pre-pivotal space where he contributes to molecule advancement teams and helps advise other development teams on FIH end-use compatibility study design. For the last year he has had the privilege to be able to contribute toward the goals of the IQ Consortium – Closed System Transfer Device (CSTD) working group. Nick has a passion for innovation to support patient-centric drug product design. Nick received his B.S. from the University of New Mexico and his Ph.D. at Colorado State University, both in Biochemistry. Nick’s Amgen affiliation started with a joint post-doc at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. After his post-doc he worked briefly as an analytical scientist in Regeneron’s (Tarrytown, NY) Protein Biochemistry group before joining Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA. When he is not dragging his wife and two kids across the nation for career opportunities, he is doing so for leisure and the love of visiting national parks.
