Luis Santos
Luis Santos is Vice President of Technology Development and Operations at Prime Medicine, where he leads Process Development and CMC operations for the company's novel Prime Editing platform across in vivo delivery modalities. In this role, he sets the overall CMC and operations strategy, drives the development of manufacturing processes for mRNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) drug products, and advances the delivery technologies that enable Prime Editing to reach patients. He leads cross-functional and CMC teams spanning process development, formulation, analytical development, and manufacturing. Prior to Prime Medicine, Luis held roles of increasing responsibility within AstraZeneca's Biopharmaceutical Development organization. There he served as a team leader focused on intracellular delivery, drug delivery technologies for nucleic acids and biologics, and technology strategy. He was responsible for mRNA-LNP development programs and acted as CMC team leader for early-stage programs. Earlier, Luis led the implementation and development of an artificial antigen-presenting cell platform at NexImmune, enabling the company's adoptive cell therapy pipeline. Across his career, Luis has contributed to several industrial consortia advancing drug delivery and nanomedicine. He has published more than 40 articles and holds multiple patents spanning drug delivery, manufacturing processes, and the development of nanomedicines. His work sits at the intersection of formulation science, RNA and LNP manufacturing, and CMC strategy, bringing together the technical and operational disciplines required to translate genetic medicines from research into clinical and commercial supply.
