Kathryn Hilde

Kathryn Hilde is an Assistant Principal Scientist at Insmed in San Diego. Dr. Hilde received a B.A. from the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. from the University of California – San Diego. During her academic career, Dr. Hilde used adeno-associated viruses (AAV) and neurotropic viruses to characterize neural circuits in the developing spinal cord, as well as to manipulate gene expression within complex brain circuits controlling stress reactivity. While working in industry, Dr. Hilde played a key role in launching the startup company Vertuis Bio, where she contributed to the development of the RNA-End Joining technology as a dual AAV platform for delivery of large genes across a variety of ocular and musculoskeletal indications. Since the acquisition of Vertuis Bio by Insmed in 2023, Dr. Hilde has been advancing preclinical studies for INS1203, a dual AAV gene therapy investigational candidate for Stargardt disease.
