Dr. Joshua Sharp received his BS degree in Microbiology at the University of Tennessee, and received his Ph.D. working under Dr. Robert Hettich at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he developed the first benchtop hydroxyl radical protein footprinting technology. Dr. Sharp did his postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Structural Biology at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences under Dr. Kenneth Tomer. Dr. Sharp moved to a research faculty position at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the University of Georgia, where he developed mass spectrometry-based methods for probing protein higher order structure and protein:carbohydrate complexes. Dr. Sharp is now Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of the Glycoscience Center of Research Excellence at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Sharp is also Chief Technology Officer of GenNext Technologies, Inc., a company offering hydroxyl radical protein footprinting instrumentation, software and contract research services for protein higher order structure analysis.
