Joseph Tarnowski

Joseph Tarnowski, PhD, has more than 40 years’ experience in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industry. Most recently he was at GSK for more than 13 years, initially as Senior Vice President of Biopharma CMC R&D, then as Senior Vice President of Cell and Gene Therapy Platforms R&D. Prior to GSK, he held senior leadership positions at BMS, ImClone Systems, and other biotechnology companies. Joe’s interests and experience include process development and scale-up of recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies, gene editing, and cell and gene therapy products. He has a thorough understanding of the CMC requirements for product registrations and cGMP requirements for manufacturing clinical and commercial scale biologic products. Joe holds a BS in Chemistry from Southeast Missouri State University, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, and post-doctoral training in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology.
