Joey Studts

Dr. Joey Studts is currently Director of Late-Stage Downstream Development in the Innovation Unit of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH in Biberach Germany. In this role, he is responsible for the development of purification processes for the production of therapeutic proteins for clinical and market supply as well as process modeling and technology development. Dr. Studts has a strong focus on late-stage process development and many years of experience in bringing innovative drugs to the market from a CMC perspective. Dr. Studts joined the BioProcess Development department in 2008 from Boehringer's research facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA. In Ridgefield, he was Head of the Protein Resources Group in the Department of Biologics and Biomolecular Sciences. Dr. Studts did a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis with Professor Daved Fremont, Ph.D. Joey received his Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Brian G. Fox, Ph.D., at the Institute for Enzyme Research in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin at Madison after completing a B.S. in Chemistry at Loras College in Dubuque, IA, USA.
