Gael Debauve

Gaël has over 16 years of experience in Quality Control roles within the biotech industry, with a particular focus over the past 9 years on supporting bioassay development. Since February 2020, he has been leading the Gene Therapy Analytical Sciences team at UCB, where he is responsible for establishing robust analytical strategies to characterize and release viral vector-based gene therapy products. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Mons (Belgium) and a Master’s degree in Management from the Louvain School of Management (Belgium). In addition to his role at UCB, Gaël serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Mons and actively contributes to international regulatory and scientific bodies. He is a member of the Belgian Pharmacopoeia Commission and participates in expert working parties at the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and HealthCare (EDQM) focusing on monoclonal antibodies and gene therapy products. In the U.S., he serves on the AAV Gene Therapy Expert Panel of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
