| Dr. McCarthy is Senior Director, Science and Standards in USP’s Global Biologics Department, where she leads development and maintenance of physical and documentary standards to support quality of medicines and oversees the USP biologics laboratories in the US and India. Her team supports standards and tools across a diverse range of therapies, including peptides, vaccines, cell and gene therapy, monoclonal antibodies, and other protein therapeutics. Prior to joining USP, Dr. McCarthy was Senior Scientific Director at Caprion Biosciences, where she focused on the use of mass spectrometry for characterization of biologics and host cell proteins. She also held leadership roles at Ezose Sciences and Bio-Rad Laboratories, where she directed research contracts and collaborations with industry, consortia, academic, and government groups. Dr. McCarthy has a background in protein chemistry and mass spectrometry, and earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. |
