William A Banks (Bill) moved to the University of Washington and VA med center in Seattle in 2010 where he is currently a Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development. His main interest is in blood-brain barrier (BBB) and its role in brain-body communications, including the physiological and pathological aspects, and strategies in drug delivery to the brain. Current topics of recent publications include penetration of SARS-CoV-2 and its S1 protein into brain, insulin transport across the BBB and insulin actions in the brain, neuroinflammation, intranasal delivery, exosomes, and BBB changes in aging, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and in response to air pollution.
