Athenesia Faggins

In my current role as Director of Analytical Development for WuXi Advanced Therapies I oversee development of analytical assays for finished product release and raw material characterization, in addition to managing Technical Operations and Raw Material Technical Services. I began my career at WuXi almost seven years ago as the site Raw Material Specialist. In this role, I created and implemented the WuXi Material Qualification Program and established a team of dedicated Raw Material Specialists who work cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Supply Chain and Testing Operations to facilitate compliance and provide direct support to our clients. In my previous experience I worked as a Manufacturing Scientist performing formulation, fill, and finish for cell-based medical devices, and later as a Technical Transfer SME leading launch of several novel cell-based and molecular technologies.

I completed my undergraduate studies at the Penn State University satellite campus in Abington, PA and went on to complete my doctoral studies at the Temple University College of Science and Technology in General Biology in Philadelphia. A few fun facts about me, I love to travel, and I consider myself to be a slightly more than amateur photographer and home-chef. I enjoy taking scenic photos for DIY artwork, as well as cooking and baking with my two daughters.
