April Sena

April has over 16 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, covering all phases of R&D and commercialization for viral/vector, recombinant protein, and mRNA/LNP manufacturing. She currently leads Technical Operations for ElevateBio Gene Editing Services, for ex vivo and in vivo applications, facilitating the seamless transfer of technology from discovery through CMC development and GMP manufacture. Prior to joining ElevateBio (Life Edit), April held leadership roles at CSL (Seqirus) and AstraZeneca (MedImmune), including positions in Research, CMC Development, MS&T, and Quality. April received her PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from Duke University, where her graduate work focused on poxvirus modulation of the immune response, and completed post-docs at the CDC on highly pathogenic influenza viruses and MedImmune on gene editing of cell substrates to enhance virus production.
