Andrew Heindel
Andrew (Andy) Heindel serves as a Senior Scientist at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he leads analytical characterization initiatives for biotherapeutics. His work spans monoclonal and alternative antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, adeno-associated viruses, and siRNA, with a focus on product quality attributes and advancing LC-MS methodologies, particularly through the application of intact mass analysis. Andy earned his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Virginia under the mentorship of Ku-lung (Ken) Hsu. His doctoral research involved developing a bottom-up chemical proteomics platform to study RNA-protein interactions and validating novel RNA-binding proteins. This foundation in bottom-up approaches complements his current focus on intact mass techniques, enabling a comprehensive understanding of complex biomolecules. Prior to graduate school, Andy gained valuable industry experience in the formulations department at Amgen. Beyond his technical contributions, Andy has authored publications, presented research at national conferences, and mentored undergraduate researchers. His expertise includes LC-MS, software design, and a broad range of biochemical characterization techniques.
