Amitabha Deb

Amitabha Deb, Ph.D., is a trained Molecular biologist with 24+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Process development and biomanufacturing of biologics and Gene Therapy products. He completed his post-doctoral training with Bryan RG Williams at the Cleveland Clinic and published pivotal papers on RNA-dependent protein kinase PKR and activation of signal transduction cascades post-viral infection in human cells. For the last 11+ years, he has been focused on the technical development of diverse Cell and Gene therapy products. He contributed to the process and analytical development of several Clinical and Commercial products, including Kymriah, Zinplava, Rabishield, Cosentyx, and Zinc finger nuclease (ZFN) mediated gene-edited products for beta-thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease. Amitabha’s contribution to the development of Kymriah, the first ever FDA-approved CAR-T cell therapy, includes developing the next generation of lentiviral processes for CAR-T therapy. He has patented several formulations for the stabilization of Lentiviral vectors while serving as the head of the lentiviral process development group at Novartis Pharma. Amitabha also served leadership roles in Sanofi/Bioverativ. Aruvant, and iVexSol.
